Nancy Richmond Rose was the chief operating officer and director of First Vote at EducationNC and the N.C. Center for Public Policy Research. She grew up in Asheville and Durham where she attended Ira B. Jones Elementary School in Asheville, and Lakewood Elementary School, George Watts Elementary, Rogers Herr Junior High, and Carolina Friends School in Durham. Nancy attended Western Carolina University before graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980 with a B.A. in Education. She holds an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Duke University.
Before joining EducationNC in 2016, Nancy spent 34 years working in administration, operations, finance, and technology with the nonpartisan North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research. In her volunteer life, she spent countless hours in her children’s schools chairing committees, tutoring, mentoring, chaperoning, fundraising, and pulling computer cable.
Nancy served as secretary of the Board of Trustees of the national Governmental Research Association. In 2019, she attended the the Aspen Executive Seminar on Leadership, Values, and the Good Society.
