Learner. Educator. Shoreline enthusiast.
Katie Dukes is the director of early childhood policy at EdNC. She grew up in northeastern North Carolina, graduating from Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools. She also attended the North Carolina Governor’s School, which inspired her to become a teacher. After graduating from North Carolina State University with a BA in history, Katie remained in Wake County, teaching social studies for more than a decade — including at Governor’s School. Katie left teaching to pursue a career in public policy, earning her MPP from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. She lives in Raleigh with her high school sweetheart and a ridiculous puppy.
