When: Monday, August 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.

Jones County PK-12 is a world-class, energy positive building with an emphasis on high performance building design, including photovoltaic and geothermal systems, and indoor air quality management–among other sustainable-design components. It was made possible by a one-of-a-kind integrated public-private-partnership –making it the second Leased School in North Carolina after Sandy Grove Middle School in Hoke County. Firstfloor Energy Positive, along with partners SfL+a Architects and Metcon Construction, designed and constructed this building uniquely to make the greatest impact possible on the lives of students, which couldn’t come up at a more opportune time after the devastation Jones County faced from Hurricane Florence.

Firstfloor Energy Positive is a company specifically designed to provide turnkey development solutions to educational institutions. Firstfloor Energy Positive’s primary objective is focusing on the individual needs of clients. Providing creative, cost-effective development solutions is Firstfloor Energy Positive’s philosophy. SfL+a Architects is a leading architectural firm, established in 1982, that focuses on delivering high-performance facilities that will serve communities and the environment for decades to come. SfL+a Architects strives to accomplish all this while maintaining its core values – people, passion, commitment, integrity and innovation. The company’s business model demands that SfL+a Architects design buildings to be at a minimum LEED Silver and nothing less. Specializing in delivering extremely energy efficient buildings, including energy positive ones, it creates engaging environments that positively impact people, communities and the environment. Teaming up with its sister-company, Firstfloor, SfL+a Architects offers alternative delivery methods including financing solutions that reduce total cost of ownership for clients.

“It has been such a pleasure and exciting time to be a part of establishing public-private partnerships as an overarching solution and means of financing public school buildings,” said

Robbie Ferris, CEO of Firstfloor Energy Positive.
