ABOUT THE SCHOOL:

Jones County PK-12 is a world-class, energy positive building with an emphasis on high performance building design, including photovoltaic and geothermal systems, and indoor air quality management–among other sustainable-design components. It was made possible by a one-of-a-kind integrated public-private-partnership –making it the second Leased School in North Carolina after Sandy Grove Middle School in Hoke County. Firstfloor Energy Positive, along with partners SfL+a Architects and Metcon Construction, designed and constructed this building uniquely to make the greatest impact possible on the lives of students, which couldn’t come up at a more opportune time after the devastation Jones County faced from Hurricane Florence.
