Students suffer “great loss” during storms

We know in many of the communities we serve, rain and storms are scary for our students and our schools.

EdNC will keep you posted on the weather and the impact on our schools and community colleges throughout Hurricane Florence.

Analisa is working with her Dad, meteorologist Tom Sorrells, to update us each day during the hurricane. Here is that article.

Analisa also has reached out to the public information officers in the 115 districts across North Carolina. This article will be updated over the course of the next days and weeks with stories and photos from our school districts as they are impacted by Hurricane Florence. We have also reached out to all 58 community colleges.

Please text FLORENCE to 73224 to share your stories and photos with us.

ICYMI, take a moment to watch Liz’s video about the aftermath of natural disasters on our students, schools, and communities. Principal Lauren Lampron reminds us students go through “great loss” during these storms.

We are with you all.

These are the sources EdNC checks every day: The New York Times, The 74, Education Week, The NC Tribune, The Insider, The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, WUNC, WFAE, Brookings, Education Commission of the States, and DPI’s News. A cross section of diverse sources are checked weekly and monthly. If you have an article you think needs to be included, email [email protected].
