Each week at EdNC we are ending the week on hopeful happy notes.

And Caroline Parker sent me this story late last night from Jabe Largen in Faison:
“5 years ago when we were envisioning a summer food program we chose the name Abundance for a handful of reasons. One main reason was to dispel the myth that in places such as ours there isn’t enough. There is enough. Our friends and neighbors continue to shower the community with abundant love. Thursdays are great example of what collaboration and Abundance looks like. 52 pieces of fried chicken, 26 servings of macaroni and cheese, and 26 rolls from Nhut’s — thanks to her and her staff — and Melba Anders Brewer and Glenn and Brewer Ace. 50 hot dogs and applesauce cups from Rita’s Place of Mount Olive courtesy of Marcia Umphlette Whitley and AtKC. And 52 plates of spaghetti from Beth Williams Painter courtesy of my friend Ashley Stevens and Ashley Nicole Designs. On behalf of all involved, we thank all who have been a part of this crisis response to this point through donations, food, grants, hands and feet, etc. We’ve needed all of you, and we will as this continues. Together, families, children, churches, businesses, community, we are enough.”
