As the end of summer approaches, here is Nation Hahn’s 2015 article on tomato sandwiches, which includes Bill Smith’s recipe. I’ve updated it with a beautiful video from Our State, featuring Bill.

Here is the 2025-26 playlist for public schools, courtesy of Jeff McDaris with back to school favorites like “Get the party started” and “Your smiling face.” McDaris will add songs weekly throughout the school year.

SAFEchild — stop abuse for every child — is a Raleigh nonprofit that is dear to my heart. It’s where I first learned about “funny tummy feelings.” They are looking for an executive director.
