Our POYs gathered together this week, continuing their collective leadership commitment and journey. ICYMI, here is their website. So thankful for you all!
Shout out to BTOY Natalia Mejia! Gov. Cooper appointed her to the North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service.
I had a lot of emotions this week as Ann Doss Helms, an education reporter at WFAE with 22 years of experience, announced her last school visit and retirement: both so very thankful for her leadership and sad for the orbit of all of us.
“I’ve spent a lot of the last 22 years talking to adults about big issues in education. But the thing that always brings me joy is visiting schools,” she wrote. When Ann moved from The Charlotte Observer to WFAE, our readers let me know they wanted to continue to follow her work and her leadership. So you may have noticed that whenever I link to her reporting, I lead with ANN DOSS HELMS REPORTS. Our audience and North Carolina has cared not just about the reporting by the outlets she worked for, but that is was hers: trusted and respected, and imbued with spirit.
And NCAE has some job openings. Take a look.
