The N.C. Tribune notes this morning, “As of Monday afternoon, legislators had introduced six bills — five in the House and one in the Senate — that seek relief from the current Aug. 26 start date to the school year that’s embedded in state law. Two House proposals would have statewide effect, and one of those — House Bill 86 — numbers Speaker Pro Tem Sarah Stevens, R-Surry, and the Republican co-chairs of the chamber’s Education K-12 committee among its 50 sponsors.”
