The White House History Teacher Institute is an in-person professional development experience for K-12 educators hosted in Washington, DC. Each summer, teachers from across the country are selected for this immersive program exploring the history, symbolism, and ongoing relevance of The White House. With this year being America’s 250th anniversary, the 2026 cohort will have added significance.

Applications opened January 5 and close February 17 at 9:00 a.m. EST. Approximately 30 educators are selected per session.

2026 Sessions

  • July 13-17, 2026
  • July 20-24, 2026

Program highlights

  • No application fee
  • Lodging and lunch provided
  • Travel stipend provided
  • 40 hours of professional learning
