The N.C. State Board of Education is meeting in a special called session on Wednesday, January 27. Here is the agenda.
This week is National School Choice Week. According to the website, “As a not-for-profit effort, we focus equally on traditional public, charter, magnet, online, private, and home education options.” Too often during this week, our public schools aren’t loud enough. Public schools offer an abundance of choice from calendar options to early colleges to academies to alternative schools to too many magnet options to keep track of to virtual academies and on and on. With COVID-19 giving parents an opportunity to explore online learning and learning from home, please lift up the public school choices in your district. And I invite all of you to share your stories of finding the right educational fit for your child on Twitter this week. EdNC’s Alex Granados will have a roundup for you later this week about National School Choice Week. Stay tuned.
