At 10am this morning, Senator Phil Berger and Superintendent Catherine Truitt will speak at an event organized by Parents for Educational Freedom North Carolina (PEFNC) for National School Choice Week on the Halifax Mall near the legislature in Raleigh.
Superintendent Truitt delivered good news to Franklin High School in Macon County yesterday. If you haven’t been there, the high school is situated on terrain that is complicated for students with disabilities to navigate. During the pandemic, the school used federal dollars to upfit a UTV to transport students across campus, which increased the amount of time they were able to spend in class. Truitt surprised the school and the district with $62 million to build a new high school. Here is coverage by WLOS, Franklin Press, and Southern Scoop.
