In fall 2022, EdNC visited all 58 community colleges as part of our Impact58 blitz, studying the economic impact of our community colleges.
We knew that the state’s funding for community college had not kept up with the economic impact they have on their communities, but as our team spoke to community college presidents on the blitz a set of indicators surfaced that is having an impact on whether community colleges are positioned to thrive.
In fall 2023, we asked EdNC’s Hannah McClellan to pull the data for the five indicators across the 58 community colleges. She then interviewed about a dozen community college leaders to learn more.
Here is our press release. Here is an EdExplainer on the formula currently driving community college funding as a primer. And here is the report.
The full spreadsheet is included in the report. Play with the data. Tell us what you see.
Last week at the meeting of the State Board of Community Colleges, a proposed new funding model called PropelNC was presented.
