Leah Carper read back through all of her emails from Mo Green back when he was the super in GCS and she was just starting her career in teaching. Her reflections — and dreams — are worth a read.

“Whether a student’s dreams are screamed, whispered, or unspoken,” she writes, “our new superintendent understands that their dreams become all our dreams, and it’s our sacred duty to help make them a reality. Today is the start of that.”

State Superintendent Green and DPI kicked off the New Year posting a thank you to educators for your dedication and commitment. “You inspire us everyday!,” it reads.

Green didn’t just get sworn in on his first day. His webpage on the DPI website went live, including information about the upcoming “Mo wants to know” listening and learning process he will engage in, but there is already a way for you to weigh in if you just can’t wait. He also posted his transition plan. Our article includes all the information about his first day in office, including how to follow him on social media in his official capacity.

In case you missed it, I’ve also included in this EdDaily, his organizational chart and the job postings Green announced just before the holidays. We’ve already had almost 15K pageviews of this article. Interest is strong, especially given the holidays.

As Leah says, “New Year. New superintendent. New opportunities for North Carolina students.”

These are the sources EdNC checks every day: The New York Times, The 74, Education Week, The NC Tribune, The Insider, The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, WUNC, WFAE, Brookings, Education Commission of the States, and DPI’s News. A cross section of diverse sources are checked weekly and monthly. If you have an article you think needs to be included, email [email protected].
