Youth Well-Being
North Carolina ranked 44th in access to youth mental health services in 2024. The state’s biannual Youth Risk Behavior Survey found that, in 2023, roughly 39% of high school students and 32% of middle school students reported feeling of sadness or hopelessness. In the same year, over half of children ages 3 to 17 faced difficulties accessing mental health treatment they needed.
