Tom Sorrells

Tom Sorrells is an Emmy award winning meteorologist whose career spans more than three decades. He has worked in markets including Myrtle Beach-Florence; Columbus, Ohio; Detroit and since 2000, Orlando. Sorrells covered Hurricane Hugo in 1989 while at WPDE in Florence. His coverage of Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne in 2004 earned WKMG the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for journalistic excellence and his coverage of Hurricane Irma in 2017 earned him his third Emmy. Sorrells has earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society and the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.
