Rob Jackson

Buncombe County Schools Superintendent Dr. Rob Jackson retired on Aug. 31, 2026 after 34 years as a public school educator. He began his career in education as a school secretary and summer custodian, before serving as a teacher, an elementary principal, and a high school principal. A former NC Wells Fargo Principal of the Year and National Distinguished Principal, Dr. Jackson is a member of the NC Principal of the Year Network, a group dedicated to sharing the success stories of public education, strengthening principal leadership and retention, and advocating for public schools and school leaders across North Carolina.
