Surry Community College is set in picturesque Surry County. The main campus is located in Dobson, which is a 45 minute drive northwest of Winston-Salem. We had the opportunity to visit with President David Shockley and his leadership team recently. Shockley reminded us ahead of the visit that Surry Community College’s mission is “to promote personal growth and community development to a diverse population through excellence in teaching, learning, and service.”
Shockley spoke to the full range of students who attend Surry Community College, from a father-son duo who drive up from Fayetteville to take their violin-making class to the students who enroll in their viticulture and enology program.
