NCTQ to release new report ranking teacher preparation programs for undergraduate elementary school teachers

The following is a press release from the National Council on Teacher Quality

WHO: National Council on Teacher Quality (NCTQ), a non-partisan research and policy organization dedicated to ensuring every classroom has a high quality teacher

What: NCTQ’s Teacher Prep Review coming out on December 6th, which will rate undergraduate programs that prepare elementary school teachers, is a follow up to the June 2014 report that found that although a movement to tackle the quality of teacher preparation has gained momentum, undergraduate programs still have a long way to go in preparing our nation’s elementary teachers. Over the next two years NCTQ will detail the landscape of U.S. teacher preparation by releasing program rankings of undergraduate elementary (December 2016), undergraduate secondary (Spring 2017), graduate and nontraditional elementary (Fall 2017), and graduate and nontraditional secondary (Spring 2018).

WhenTuesday, December 6th, 2016 at 12:01am/ET

Embargoed copies of the report will be available the week of November 28. To schedule an interview with NCTQ President, Kate Walsh, please contact Stephen Buckley on (202) 393-0020 ext. 129.

About the National Council on Teacher Quality:
The National Council on Teacher Quality is a nonpartisan research and policy group, committed to modernizing the teaching profession and based on the belief that all children deserve effective teachers. We recognize that it is not teachers who bear responsibility for their profession’s many challenges, but the institutions with the greatest authority and influence over teachers.
