When talking about Common Core, it’s important to consider a southern context for schools below the Mason-Dixon Line. The Education Writers Association hosted a forum on Common Core at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The Association invited News & Observer Education Reporter Jane Stancill to interview Ferrel Guillory,professor of the practice at the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication and member of the board of directors for EducationNC, about the southern context of Common Core.
