During the State Board of Education’s issues session yesterday, Board members heard a presentation on homeless youth and children, the education hurdles they face, and what is being done to help them. 

According to the presentation, North Carolina has 26,377 homeless youth and children as of 2015-16, the most recent year for which federal data is available.

Below watch the full presentation of the report by Donna Brown and Jan Moore of the National Center for Homeless Education. Brown is the director of Federal Program Monitoring and Support and Moore is assistant director. Brown presents first and then Moore. Below the video are the slides used during the presentation.
