Question of the Week – April 22

On May 1, some NC teachers’ plan to use a personal leave day to travel to Raleigh for a rally. The rally’s demands are:

  • Increased school support staff (nurses, psychologists, etc.) to national recommended recommendations
  • $15 minimum wage for all school personnel, 5% raise for educators, 5% cost of living adjustment for retirees
  • Medicaid expansion
  • Reinstating state retiree health benefits
  • Restoring master’s pay.

So far, 22 school districts have cancelled class that day. Do you support the decision of teachers to rally in Raleigh? Share your thoughts with us below
