EducationNC recently talked with Rep. Craig Horn, R-Union, about a book that heavily influenced him over the years. Horn is an influential legislator when it comes to education, and the book he cited as sticking with him after many years is “Death at an Early Age: The Classic Indictment of Inner-City Education,” by acclaimed education writer Jonathon Kozol.
The book chronicles Kozol’s experience as a teacher in 1964 in the Boston Public School system and the things he saw that influenced how he saw the country’s public education system.
