Feds respond to North Carolina ESSA plan

North Carolina submitted its plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) to the federal government in September. This past week, the feds responded.

The United State Department of Education sent a response letter to the state requesting additional information as part of its approval process. The federal government’s response includes details on a number of areas in the state’s plan that need to be addressed before they can move forward.

In addition, the state also received peer feedback on aspects of its plan.

North Carolina’s Department of Public Instruction has until December 28 to submit its revisions, but it can request an extension.
