Sen. Chad Barefoot, R-Wake, stole the headlines during the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee Tuesday, but legislators did hear important information about a new federal education law.
Superintendent June Atkinson and Lou Fabrizio, director of Data, Research & Federal Policy at the Department of Public Instruction, explained to legislators some of the impacts from the new federal Every Student Succeeds Act. This law is the successor to the Bush-era No Child Left Behind law.
Below you will see a video of the presentation, as well as video of the Q & A between legislators, Fabrizio, and Atkinson.
