The N.C. General Assembly will convene at 10 am on Tuesday, December 13 for a special session to address the floods and forest fires, and “any other matters the General Assembly elects to consider.” Here is the proclamation. EdNC’s Alex Granados and Liz Bell will be live blogging and tweeting.

Granados will be the Child Fatality Task Force meeting today in 1027/1128 LB at 9:30, and then at the Joint Legislative Program Evaluation Oversight Committee today in 544 LOB at 1pm.

The Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership is accepting online applications for the 2017-18 fellowship year through January 16, 2017. These fellowships address the critical need to develop and empower high-quality teachers, who, in turn, make learning more authentic for students. Here is the application.

Golden LEAF Scholarship applications are now available at CFNC.org/goldenleaf. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, March 1, 2017. A total of 215 awards will be offered to first-time recipients to assist with tuition at participating institutions for the 2017-18 academic year. The awards are valued at $12,000 ($3,000 per year for up to four years of undergraduate education) for high school seniors and up to $9,000 for community college transfer students from qualifying counties who attend a participating North Carolina campus.
