Exploring trends in 2020 from funding to gifted education to choice

Who is Sen. Bill Ferguson? This 36-year-old, TFA and Davidson grad serves in the Senate in Maryland and “will be shepherding education legislation known as the Kirwan Commission recommendations, designed to transform Maryland public schools into some of the best in the world — at an eventual price tag of $4 billion a year,” according to The Washington Post. Year 6 of the NC GreenPower Solar+ Schools program is underway. The 2020 application is live and accepting submissions through 5pm on February 28. 

The State Board of Education will meet Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 8 and 9, in the 7th floor Board Room, Education Building, 301 N. Wilmington Street, Raleigh. The agendas for this meeting are available online.
