“Should eighth-graders start thinking about their career options?

The N.C. Department of Public Instruction plans to ask the legislature to fund career development coaches in middle schools. The idea isn’t to force 13-year-olds to decide whether they’d rather be an attorney or an electrician, but education officials think kids would benefit from understanding how the courses and activities they choose could help them toward career goals.”
