NC students set record high for completed AP exams, scores outperform national average

North Carolina high school students in 2023-24 participated and performed in college-level Advanced Placement (AP) courses at record-setting levels – reaching the highest participation and final scores in the 10-year partnership between the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) and the College Board, which administers the AP program and exams Of the over 155,000 exams administered, 65.4 percent resulted in a proficient score of 3 or better, exceeding the national average of 65 percent and up from North Carolina’s 59 percent in 2022-23.…


The Public School Forum of North Carolina announced a debate between North Carolina superintendent candidates Michelle Morrow and Mo Green to be held in the auditorium at Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. You can register for the event here.

Nominations for the Wells Fargo Principal of the Year (POY) Program and the NCCAT 2025 Burroughs Wellcome Fund NC Beginning Teacher of the Year are now open at charter schools. (Nominees from traditional public schools are automatically entered through their district’s award selection process.)

Here is the 2025 North Carolina Principal of the Year nomination form for charter school principals. Once nominated, your POY nominee will be contacted with portfolio submission guidelines, due by Oct. 25. For beginning teachers,  you can submit your nominee at this link, due by Oct. 1.
