The Editor’s Notes
Everyone is curious about when the legislators are coming back to Raleigh and when we will have a budget. News outlets are reporting that Speaker Moore has indicated not to expect votes on veto overrides or other legislation until mid-August at the earliest. Practically, there are several steps to go with the budget though legislative leaders are indicating those negotiations and the process are on track. Appropriation chairs will be back this coming week, then the conferees will get looped in, and once there is agreement the bill and the committee report have to be updated, before it goes back to the chambers for a vote. End of August seems best case to me at this point.
