News update from EdNC’s Alex Granados:

The State Board of Community Colleges announced the formation of a search committee for a new president of the system to replace Peter Hans, who is leaving to take over as leader of the UNC system. 

The following board members were named to the committee: 
 
Bob Stephens, Chair
William Holder, Vice Chair
Catherine Edmonds
Lisa Estep
Sam Powell
Jerry Vaughan
Bill McBrayer
Breeden Blackwell
 
There is also a place on the committee for one or two community college presidents and trustees, but they have not been picked yet. The board will discuss picking an interim president of the community college system during its July meeting.
