Over the weekend on FRONT ROW with Marc Rotterman on PBS, Speaker Tim Moore, responding to a question about teacher pay, said a “pay increase, an actual raise” is in the works for teachers. “[I ] don’t want to reveal what the number is just yet, but it’s a very, pretty generous one to help out, to really deal with inflation, plus to take into account the fact that we do have this surplus,” he said. Here is the link. Start watching at 14:08. He indicated that he expects the short session to last six weeks and said legislative leadership would be talking to the Governor this week. Advocates, now is the time to weigh in proactively on what you think that raise should look like.
