School counselor and her dog help students grow through grief

The Editor’s Notes
Welcome to a very big weekend in the history of North Carolina basketball! ICYMI, our Governor proclaimed North Carolina the “center of the college basketball universe.” I’m on my way to New Orleans. My youngest son’s second and third grade teacher (he looped) gave me a ticket, and Superintendent McDaris updated the playlist early for the road trip. That one sentence says much about what I love so dearly about the #nced community. If you are at the game, message me on Twitter @Mebane_Rash.
To our legislators who met earlier in the week at the Holshouser Retreat and to all who have been at the NCASA conference at the end of this week, thank you for learning more ed policy and how it shapes our students, our state, and our future.
