EdNC. Essential education news. Important stories. Your voice.

3/21/2022

EdNC will be all over this week. Molly and Liz will be in NYC to learn more about innovative schools like Brooklyn STEAM and Fannie Lou Hamer in the Bronx. Rupen is in DC with the Education Policy Fellowship Program national conference. Hannah, Caroline, and Cheyenne will be attending the NC Rural Summit. Alex will be in Union for the House Select Committee on an Education System for North Carolina’s Future, Liz will be in Greene, Emily will be in Rutherford and then at CPCC, Cheyenne will be in Warsaw and Kenansville, and Katie will be in Craven and Pamlico. I will be covering Jeb Bush’s talk on the future of higher education at UNCC on Tuesday.

What’s the meaning of these numbers? 2,503,997. 2,496,434. 2,192,073.

Unaffiliated voters are now the largest voting bloc in NC — though they don’t vote together! Those are the numbers for unaffiliated, Democrat, and Republican registered voters as of Friday. We’ll be watching to see how that impacts election trends across the state.

The Futures meeting in Union County today at 5pm will be livestreamed. Livestreaming of this meeting will be made available by Union County Professional Development Center. The meeting will be on YouTube @UCPS BOE. In addition, a link to the meeting will be posted on the UCPS website (ucps.k12.nc.us) and on the district’s Facebook Page (@UCPSNC) at the start of the meeting.
