From EdNC’s Alex Granados:
Three education-related bills made their way through a slew of House committees yesterday and are on the calendar for the full House today. One on summer learning is covered extensively in this article.
Another would require the State Board of Education to report to the General Assembly on participation in computer science courses annually.
And a third would require information from districts on digital learning devices in schools, the availability of such devices to students outside of school, and student accessibility to the Internet outside the school. All this information would be available on a digital learning dashboard established by the State Board of Education.
The last two bills were the result of recommendations from the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee, one in a 2020 report and one in a 2021 report.
