EdNC. Essential education news. Important stories. Your voice.

For nearly 10 years, EdNC has provided readers with nonpartisan data, research, news, information, and analysis about the trends bearing on education.

Today’s profile of the nominee for secretary of education is a good example of our work to provide you with a more complete picture of who Linda McMahon is than you will find in the current headlines so that you can make an informed decision on how you feel about her nomination.

That’s the day-to-day work of EdNC.

But in times of crisis, we also provide strategic support to those we serve. Our team was on the ground in the communities devastated after Hurricane Helene, and to date we have written 60 articles. If you missed it, take a look at our Thanksgiving blessing for the important moments and learnings that didn’t make it into our reporting. Turns out, the same information we need for our stories is what is needed for grants, and so our team has supported fundraising of those hardest hit in Yancey, Mitchell, and Avery counties in this critical period between when a natural disaster happens and when the state and federal dollars hit local bank accounts. To date, our strategic support has secured $1,052,600 for early ed, the school districts, and the community college. Our heartfelt thank you to the philanthropists who stepped up and leaned in to find ways to help those in need.

At the end of the day, we hope our work encourages strong leadership on behalf of our students, our state, and our future.

Your readership is important to us. As a nonprofit, we rely on our audience to support our efforts. Please consider us if you are making donations today on Giving Tuesday.

It is our privilege to do this work. Thank you for being part of EdNC.

These are the sources EdNC checks every day: The New York Times, The 74, Education Week, The NC Tribune, The Insider, The News & Observer, The Charlotte Observer, WUNC, WFAE, Brookings, Education Commission of the States, and DPI’s News. A cross section of diverse sources are checked weekly and monthly. If you have an article you think needs to be included, email [email protected].
