Early voting is up in North Carolina. Last Thursday, the first day of in-person early voting, a first-day record was set of 353,166 ballots accepted at sites statewide, according to preliminary data from the State Board of Elections. In 2020, 348,559 ballots were accepted — so it was up by 1.3%. As of 4 p.m. Sunday, more than 1 million voters had cast ballots in the 2024 general election, including absentee and early voting ballots, according to the board.
