Pamela Senegal
Dr. Pamela Gibson Senegal has served as president of Piedmont Community College since 2017. As a dedicated continuous learner, she recently completed an ECU Honors seminar in Economic Development (23), the Duke University NC Leadership Forum (22), and the Aspen New President’s Leadership Fellowship program for 2020-21. This year, Senegal has been selected as one of 25 community college leaders from across the country to participate in the new second cohort of the Aspen Institute’s President Fellowship program.
Senegal is a lifelong educator committed to ensuring that educational opportunities are available to all communities. With more than 25 years of experience in both industry and education, she brings strengths in economic development and partnership creation.
Her dedication to public service is seen in her work on various boards: EdNC, UNC’s World View Council of Advisors, NC Campus Engagement, NC Turnpike Authority, Person Memorial Foundation, Piedmont Triad Regional Workforce Development, Roxboro Savings Bank, Person and Caswell Economic Development Boards, and membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Boy Scouts of America, and in her church.
Senegal earned degrees in Political Science and Spanish (Bachelor’s), Public Administration (Master’s), and Adult and Community College Education (Doctorate of Education) from North Carolina State University.
Senegal has three sons, two of whom are Eagle Scouts, graduates of Hampton University and Winston Salem State University, both gainfully employed, and one who is a senior at Piedmont Community College’s Person Early College for Innovation and Leadership (PECIL).
