Fain Barker has worked with young children with special needs for over 17 years. She began her career in the field of early intervention as a home visitor, evaluator, and service coordinator. She went on to work on early childhood research and evaluation projects across the country and after receiving her Ph.D. in 2016, she became a Child Development faculty member and Birth-Kindergarten Program Coordinator at Meredith College for 5 and a half years. Since that time, Barker has returned to the field of early intervention and now works as the Professional Development Coordinator at the NC Infant-Toddler Program.
