Bria is a senior at Duke University, studying Public Policy with a focus on Child and Family Policy. She is passionate about education policy and the ways that policy can improve outcomes for children, families, and communities. Her interests include K-12 education, literacy, educational equity, and the intersection of education and child well-being.
At Duke, Bria has engaged in research through Bass Connections, examining child maltreatment in North Carolina’s foster care system. This year, she will conduct independent research on intergenerational illiteracy and its impact on economic mobility. Professionally, Bria has worked with organizations across the Mid-Atlantic on child welfare and family policy research. These experiences have strengthened her interest in using research and policy to address inequities facing children and families.
As a 2026-27 John M. Belk Endowment Impact Fellow and EdNC Fellow, Bria hopes to deepen her understanding of North Carolina’s education landscape and explore how research, storytelling, and policy can advance educational equity. In her free time, Bria enjoys singing with her a cappella group, learning to play new instruments, and having movie nights with friends.
