Jeff McDaris, our Friday playlist curator, is signing off for summer.
“Welcome to week #41 and the final week of the Weekly Reckoning 2025-2026: Songs about the week and times in NC education,” writes McDaris. “Thank you, educators! This year’s list had 197 songs. It’s an odd number perhaps, but then again, everyone is unique and musical lists, like little boxes of perfection, don’t exist. This year’s songs have been added to the master list of all songs — The Big Ass List of Musical Commentary — I’ve curated since beginning the weekly list in 2021. We’re now up to 1,092 songs. I suspect that would handle any road trip, no matter how far a traveler goes…. I hope everyone has a great (and safe) Summer out there…. Interpretations and meanings are always at the listener’s fancy.”
