The Editor’s Notes

Transcend is accepting applications for the Rural Career-Connected Collaborative, a fully funded 15-month program starting in January 2026. The application should take communities between 1-3 hours to complete and is due on Oct. 20.

BEST NC is inviting feedback for the upcoming edition of Facts & Figures: Education in North Carolina. Each year, Facts & Figures presents over 150 charts and infographics about education in North Carolina, covering a student’s trajectory from cradle-to-career. You can view the 2025 edition of Facts & Figures at NCEdFacts.org. Here is the form for feedback which is due by Oct. 24.

Shout out to Annie Goldberg, a school counselor at Broadview Middle School in the Alamance-Burlington School System, who has been named one of five finalists for the 2026 School Counselor of the Year award by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). The announcement recognizes Goldberg’s exceptional work in transforming student outcomes.
