New from EdNC

The Editor’s Notes
To the playmakers and their families, Sarah and Zach, the school and the district, thank you for trusting EdNC to share the story of your leadership. Thank you to Heather Smith, Beckie Spears, and Rupen Fofaria for your commitment to our students and going above and beyond in getting this story in front of state leaders and out into the world. Thank you to Samaritan’s Purse and Leslie Hilliard, an educator in Yancey County Schools, for donating the footage from the storm and its aftermath. Thank you to Robert Kinlaw, the videographer and director of the documentary, for helping me document this “miraculous” making of a new story.
On a personal note, I’d love you to also take a look at this video featuring my son Hutch’s research on hellbenders after the storm. “Hellbenders are to me a symbol of everything that’s magnificent about Appalachia,” he says.
Here is your playlist for the weekend courtesy of Jeff McDaris, with a great selection of storm-worthy songs.
