The Editor’s Notes

Yesterday, this press release was posted announcing a hearing today to consider a $12 billion decrease in funding (-15% cut) to the U.S. Department of Ed.
If you scroll to the bottom of the press release, there are links to full bill text and summary.
In the full bill text, the Department of Ed changes to funding start on p. 129.
The hearing starts at 5 p.m. today. Here is where to watch.
The summary is the Republican take on the markup. Here is what the Democrats are saying.
In the summary, the federal government’s investment in education is called “outsized.”
And yet on p. 147 of the bill, $293,007,000 is included for the department to rent conference rooms in DC and hire three passenger motor vehicles.
Stay tuned.
