Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court granted an application to stay the preliminary injunction in place while two lawsuits proceed on the reduction in force at the U.S. Department of Education.

While it is being called a “victory,” the cases will move forward. The upshot? Earlier this year, the department ended the employment of probationary employees and offered buy outs for employees. Add those to the RIF, and the department will have about half the staff it did under previous administrations.
“As we return education to the states, this Administration will continue to perform all statutory duties while empowering families and teachers by reducing education bureaucracy,” says McMahon.
