The mill closing in Canton is not going well. Turns out the company has never closed a mill before.
This week our team is out there with local and state leaders to help workers think about transitioning health insurance. At this point, I can’t find any evidence the company ever notified the insurance provider that the mill was closing on June 9.
Why is EdNC out there? When a crisis like this happens, we leverage our whole theory of change to provide support. Education institutions — from the Regional Center for the Advancement of Children to the district to the early college to the community college — will be the strategic assets for this community moving forward. Telling the story isn’t enough.
