Across North Carolina, kids packed their book bags and set off today on buses and in carpools for their first day of school.

From new lockers to Monday folders to lunch and recess, I shadowed nine-year-old Aaron Worsley on his first day of fourth grade at Washington GT Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh. He is in Mrs. Eileen Marathe’s class.
