In this first episode, hosts Donnell Cannon and Jenny O’Meara interview James Ford. As the executive director of CREED, the Center for Racial Equity in Education, a member of the North Carolina State Board of Education, and former North Carolina Teacher of the Year in 2014-15, Ford is in the midst of living out his hummingbird story and fighting for a better and more equitable world of education. Meet the authors

Donnell Cannon is the executive director of Maureen Joy Charter School in Durham.

Jenny O’Meara is a Partner with Transcend Education’s School Design Services. She supports school teams and leaders in their work to reimagine school and to design extraordinary and equitable experiences for all. A former teacher and principal, she gets especially fired up about redesigning school with rural communities and elevating the voices of young people.
