Berger and Ballard lead Education Roundtable with Surry Community

On Thursday, Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) and Sen. Deanna Ballard (R-Watauga) hosted an education roundtable at Surry Community College with local members of the education community and industry partners.
The discussion centered around ensuring that North Carolina students are prepared to enter college or the workforce when they graduate High School. Participants included students, teachers and administrators from local schools, colleges and members of the business community who employ interns from local High Schools.
“Every child deserves a fair shot to make his or her own success in life and we need to make sure our schools are preparing them for the future whether that means college or the workforce,” said Berger. “I enjoyed having the opportunity to speak with members of the community last night and see the pride they take in influencing these students’ lives.”
“It was insightful to listen to our students, educators, administrators and members of the business community share about the positive things they are doing as well as hear about the areas of improvements and help needed to make sure our young people are prepared for their desired next steps ahead.” said Ballard.
