RE-Brand NC Education shifting the conversation

Last Saturday at North Carolina State University, RE-Brand NC Education held one of its Shifting the Conversation events. RE-Brand NC Education is an organization, founded by a North Carolina principal and assistant principal, that is seeking innovative ways to change public schools, to shift the conversation about education, and to break the status quo for school leaders.

According to a perspective written by the founders published on EducationNC: “RE-Brand NC Education creates a platform for school and district leaders to access ideas that are currently being implemented in schools where change agents are seeing results.”

The focus of Saturday’s event was “Future Focused Schools Led By Future Focused Leaders.” As part of it, two keynote speakers shared their experiences. Dr. Latoya Dixon, the director of innovation in the Office of Transformation at the South Carolina Department of Education, and author of “Burned Out, Beaten Up, & Fighting Back: A Call to Action for America’s Public Educators,” spoke first, explaining how and why education can and must do better. Watch her presentation below.

Later, Adam Dovico, principal of Moore Magnet Elementary School in Winston-Salem and author of the two books, “Inside the Trenches,” and “The Limitless Classroom,” talked about how he has transformed the culture at his elementary school. See his presentation below.
