Equity Meets Education: James Ford

This film is the last in a four-part series exploring racial equity in North Carolina schools through the lives and perspectives of some of the state’s black male leaders. James Ford — from world history teacher to 2014 North Carolina Teacher of the Year, from program director at the Public School Forum of North Carolina to a principal at Filling the Gap Educational Consultants — describes how his childhood and teaching experiences inform his role in fighting for educational equity. Watch the first film on North Edgecombe High School Principal Donnell Cannon; the second on Jason Terrell, Profound Gentlemen co-founder and executive director; and the third on Charlotte public defender Toussaint Romain.

Editor’s Note: Ford’s Filling the Gap Educational Consultants, LLC, consults with EducationNC’s North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research.
